Lisa Coburn, DDS
Director of Airway Dentistry | TMJ Specialist
Lisa Coburn, DDS, specializes in airway-focused dentistry at Rebis Health, with a primary passion for early intervention in children with craniofacial underdevelopment, sleep apnea therapy via oral appliances, and orthodontic expansion for adults seeking permanent, structural relief from breathing-related sleep disorders.
What sets Lisa apart is how deeply she invests in patient education before treatment ever begins. Rather than simply presenting options, she walks each patient through their own anatomy step by step, showing exactly where airway obstructions are occurring and how specific interventions address them at the structural level. She believes that when patients truly understand what is happening in their own bodies, they are equipped to make intuitive, confident decisions about their care rather than simply deferring to a clinician's recommendation.
Lisa's clinical approach moves from conservative to comprehensive depending on what each patient needs. For children, her focus is on correcting improper tongue posture, mouth breathing, and narrow jaw development early in life, guiding healthy facial growth before problems become permanent. For adults, she works closely with physicians post-diagnosis to custom-fit oral appliances that optimize the airway during sleep, and offers advanced orthodontic jaw expansion for patients seeking round-the-clock structural change. Whether the solution is a home-care tool or a full expansion protocol, her goal is always the same: treat the underlying structural root cause, not just the symptom.

Having spent the past two decades as a general dentist, I’ve always cherished the time I spend with my patients, listening to their needs, and meeting them where they are at. I’ve always incorporated a touch of psychology, science, and art into my practice. However, deep down, I always knew there was something more for me—a deeper purpose.
When my hygienist began educating me about tongue-ties, I initially dismissed it. Then, she introduced me to a Myofunctional Therapist who posed questions like, “Were you breastfed?” “Did you wet the bed as a child?” “Did you have difficulty paying attention in school?” These questions stirred something within me, prompting me to reflect on childhood experiences I had never even considered asking about. I felt a profound sense of being seen and understood.
This sparked a years-long journey of self-improvement for myself, my husband, and my three daughters. We embarked on a quest to become better nasal-breathers and sleepers. I wish I could turn back time and help myself as a young girl, catch my daughters earlier, and perhaps even save my mother, who succumbed to Early Onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 64. While I can’t alter the past, I’m determined to spread awareness by educating my community, the people I hold dear.
Airway Dentistry has become my passion and my life’s work—to help people breathe and sleep better naturally.

An adventurer at heart, I’ve lived in Italy, Indonesia, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia, giving birth to each of my daughters in three different countries!
