Recently, in the Windy City, our family met with pioneering pediatric airway dentist Dr. Kevin Boyd and the incredible team at Dentistry for Children. We came seeking answers for our kids—and left with clarity, hope, and a plan.

Searching for Answers in a Fragmented System

What we learned was eye-opening. We discovered how craniofacial growth can influence breathing, sleep, focus, and even posture. It connected the dots we’d been trying to make sense of for years.

Along the way, I met parents who looked the way I’ve felt—tired, worried, confused, yet still determined. They carried the same questions so many of us ask but rarely see addressed:

Why is my child snoring?

Why does my child always have dark circles under their eyes?

Why can’t they breathe through their nose?

Why is bedwetting still happening?

Why is focus so hard at school?

What’s the cause of the sleep apnea?

When Symptoms Are Treated, The “Why” Is Missed

Dr. Boyd and his team did something different and took the time to explain the “why.” They evaluated craniofacial development methodically and offered root-cause solutions, rather than just symptom management. Their compassion matched their expertise, and we felt safe, heard, and loved as parents.

Seeing the Whole Picture of Health

This experience reaffirmed a core belief that the silos in healthcare make families feel alone. Dentistry, ENT, sleep medicine, pediatrics, PT—we all see a part of the puzzle. Families deserve the whole picture.

A Multi-Disciplinary Approach to Better Sleep and Health

That’s exactly what we’re building with the new Rebis model—a truly collaborative, integrated approach that brings these specialties around one table, with one shared plan and one goal: help children (and adults) breathe, sleep, and thrive.

I’m deeply grateful to Dr. Boyd and Dentistry for Children for their time, insights, and generosity in educating our family and our dental team. Thank you for lighting the way—and for inspiring us to help pioneer a better path forward.

If you’re a parent searching for answers or a clinician passionate about airway and sleep health, let’s connect. Together, we can replace confusion with clarity and build a healthcare system that families deserve.
